PI-TOP – Coding, Robotics, & STEAM Course
Pi-top is an award-winning modular laptop that gives you the tools to complete amazing “Do It Yourself” projects & bring inventions to life.
Pi‑top [3], the Makers’ Laptop, is a great introduction to physical computing. Learning moves from being just screen-based to being hands-on, so you’re learning by making. It’s the perfect tool to help you learn to code, create awesome devices and systems, and take your knowledge to the next level.
This project-based learning program is used by over 2000 schools globally & comes along with a booklet that details 20+ projects to complete step-by-step and three inventors’ kits.
Pi-top is a hardware that contains an educational operating system that supports Hybrid and Distance Learning. It includes step-by-step projects with all the details for the students to do their own projects with their own creative twists under the supervision of their teachers.
Moreover, Pi-top is equipped with an online platform for “FURTHER” projects – in itself a Learning Management System LMS to help student/teacher in-class engagement and manage online/physical classes.
Pi-top is adopted for a higher level. It is a modular laptop for physical computing and for inspiring a generation of makers. Students using Pi-top will learn how to code, especially using Python – the number one programming language worldwide. We have to note that learning programming is not enough, the student must learn how to think logically.
The Pi-top kit includes a 3D printed portable laptop. The student will first start by learning how to assemble a laptop by learning hardware. In addition to the laptop, the student is provided with an Inventor’s Kit that includes sensors, resistors, and more electronic devices. With time, the student can launch the Pi-top coder and start executing projects. There are multiple built-in projects, which the student can follow gradually. Students will not only follow steps but also play and tinker with projects to incorporate their critical thinking and creativity.
We can conclude that students can do any project they want by learning the problem-solving approach. For example, if they have anyone in their family with special needs, they can help them by inventing, for instance, an obstacle avoider for blind people.
Pi-top [3] teaches you to make your own creations on your journey as an inventor, using physical components in conjunction with code. At its heart is the hugely successful Raspberry Pi which means you’re instantly part of a global community of learners and makers.
What Is Your Creation?
Each Pi-top [3] comes with an awesome Inventor’s Kit, which contains a range of components so you can start making it straight away. Use the LEDs, buzzers, and speakers to create your own musical synth, or make a physical space race game using resistors and copper wire. Or even make a robot that interacts with you using proximity sensors and a microphone!
Slide It Down
Sliding the keyboard forward reveals not only the Raspberry Pi but also the built-in magnetic modular rail. It’s a sandbox workspace for you to build your creations, using pi-top accessories such as the Inventor’s Kit, as well as other easily available off-the-shelf electronic components.
Meet the Apps
Pi-top [3] comes with Pi‑top OS offering a range of apps such as Scratch, Minecraft, Microsoft Office-compatible productivity suite, 3D printing software, and much more.
